New Orleans. The “Big Easy,” home of French culture, jambalaya, and Mardi Gras. Inhabited with people from all over the world, there is always some sort of festivity occurring, which means that there is always some opportunity to have a few drinks.
That is where Happy Hour comes in. New Orleans is packed with places to relax and drink. So many options can become overwhelming, and that is the last thing one should be when on vacation. Here is a list of some noteworthy NOLA bars and pubs where you are sure to experience a good time. So whenever you have the chance to visit and are looking for deals in New Orleans, check out the following:
$2.50 Amaretto Sours and Mimosas at Columns Hotel: A beautiful hotel located in the Garden District, this place is ideal for everyone from colleagues to college kids. The front porch overlooks Saint Charles Street and is a good central meeting point uptown. For Happy Hour, certain drinks, like an Amaretto Sour and a mimosa, are only $2.50. And on Fridays, a glass of wine is only $2. Make full use of these offers so that you can enjoy a drink while sitting in the hotel garden outside next to the fountain.
3-for-1 Beers at Razzoo Bar & Patio: Being directly on Bourbon Street, this bar is a must-go for those looking to enjoy the party scene. It gets crowded quickly, so make sure to come early. Its 3-for-1 beer specials begin at Happy Hour and last until 9 p.m. everyday. There are many other deals as well to watch out, such as $7 for Grey Goose cosmos. The gigantic backyard has lots of seating to accommodate everyone as they gather together in the evenings to relax and watch the live music onstage.
3 Mich Ultras for $5.25 at Cats Meow: This is another bar to check out for those looking for the party. It is constantly jam-packed with people from all ages aiming to have a good time. Also on Bourbon Street, its Happy Hour lasts from 1-7 p.m. and consists of many 3-for-1 deals as well. There are a wide variety of tropical drinks to choose from, but the drink of choice has to be the Mich Ultras, which cost only $5.25 for 3 beers. Enjoy them as you watch others karaoke (or take a stab at it yourself), hula hoop on stage, or kick back on the upstairs balcony.
$6 Beer Pitchers and $5 Mojitos at The Rum House: This place is located in the Garden District, where the Columns Hotel is. The best thing about it is that it is not a bar or a pub at all; rather, it is a Jamaican taqueria. With lots of French doors, there is a very beach-like feel to this taqueria that is enhanced by the Bob Marley music. Happy Hour here is referred to as “Island Time,” where you can “drink some of this and your troubles will be forgotten.” During the week, they have mix-and-match tacos that range from a variety of flavors to choose from. All pitchers of beer are $6, and all mojitos are only $5. There is also a slew of rum-laced drinks to try out, such as the PainKiller or the Charger (Red Stripe and rum).
