The latest entrant to the gourmet taco truck trend is set to hit the streets of San Francisco tomorrow night. The Chron and 7x7 report that chef Laurent Katgely of Chez Spencer will start serving french fare from his new mobile kitchen Thursday evening across the street from Terroir Wine Bar (recently written up by the NYT). The chef soon hopes to expand the truck's route to include farmer's markets and other sites like popular parks.Coming on the heels of the popular Mission Street Food in San Francisco (until it ducked indoors) and Los Angeles' much talked about Korean BBQ taco-truck, this latest French incarnation is sure to create some buzz among local foodies. Additionally, no item from the gourment menu which includes grilled sweetbreads, escargot puffs, and frog legs and curry, is priced above $9.
While Spencer on the Go might not have the romance of its parent restaurant, with Katgely behind the wheel it is likely to deliver some high-quality food at recession-friendly prices.
